We have had an upgrade of our website which we hope you like as it allows all devices to read the site without effort.  Any additional information you would like to see on it please contact the Committee.

We have had a wonderful last term for the year with excursions, travel logs, art appreciation talk, Melbourne cup celebration and all our weekly classes.  We will remember this term as we have had our share of local bush fires and days of smoke to contend with.  Thanks you to all who attended our classes and, of course, our wonderful tutors.

Some of us attended the NSW Network Conference and AGM at Armidale on 7, 8 and 9 May. Despite the cool weather, we found the collegiate atmosphere very warm and enjoyed renewing friendships. We all attended different workshops and were entertained by a varied range of speakers in the auditorium.

The AGM once again ran smoothly with no divisive items for our delegate, Sue Buls to vote on.

The conference dinner was delicious and Gordon Edmonds entertained us as poet extraordinaire. For that matter all the food was delicious – lunch, morning and afternoon teas included.

Forster & Noeline

On 3rd and 4th April eight of our members attended the Network AGM and Conference in Goulburn. There were several addresses and workshops on the first day to stimulate further interest in U3A activities. We were well fed throughout the conference and enjoyed meeting and catching up with other U3Aers from across the state and even some from interstate. We particularly enjoyed meeting and listening to Noelene Brown. (see picture)

The AGM went smoothly and Morag Peters carried out her duty as delegate diligently and efficiently. Some of us got to see the big merino which now wears a woollen scarf weighing 30+Kgs, knitted by the Goulburn community.

At the Floriculture session this week, Dell Thomas passed on a recipe for a solution to add to vases of cut flowers. Here it is:

Floriculture recipe for standard preservative for cut blooms.

Per litre

¼  teaspoon bleach (4 percent solution)

                                    or

1 teaspoon bleach (if 1 percent solution)

2 teaspoons sugar

1 teaspoon vinegar or 3 pinches citric acid

Best if made up in a 1 litre jug, the solution will not work properly  unless it is measured properly.

Never use sugar alone.

Never ever re-use floral foam as it will be full of harmful bacteria from the previous use.
